Barca ‘launch €35m Luiz bid’

A report in England suggests that Barcelona are preparing to make a move for Chelsea’s David Luiz this summer.

La Blaugrana are seen as in the market this transfer window for a centre-back, with Thiago Silva increasingly seen in Spain as their primary objective.

However, the Daily Mail are running the line on Tuesday that Silva’s international centre-back partner, Chelsea’s Luiz, is their first choice purchase.

The English publication suggest that Barca are readying a €35m bid for the 26-year-old, which would mark a €10m increase on the amount The Blues paid Benfica for the defender back in January 2011.

However, it is believed that Jose Mourinho’s new side are determined to keep the player, even if Luiz himself is described as ’50-50’ on whether he wants to stay or not.

Meanwhile, Mundo Deportivo suggest that Barca’s alternative to Paris Saint-Germain’s Silva this summer is Liverpool’s Daniel Agger.
