Cristiano opens Georgia academy

Cristiano Ronaldo has continued to develop football across Europe with the opening of an academy in Georgia.

The Real Madrid player was accompanied by Kaja Kaladze, a former player who spent nine seasons with Milan and is now the Georgian government’s Deputy Minister for Energy, and Ukrainian legend Andrei Shevchenko.

The Portuguese, who has participated in several promotional events in France and Singapore over the past few days, posed with children and signed numerous autographs at the inauguration in Tbilisi.

The 28-year-old also attended a friendly match between Dinamo Tbilisi and Dynamo Moscow in the Georgian capital to commemorate the Russian club’s 90th anniversary.

The game was played at the stadium where Spain achieved an important 1-0 World Cup qualifier victory over Georgia in September 2012 with a goal from Valencia’s Roberto Soldado.
