Verdu ready for Betis challenge

Joan Verdu has explained that he chose Real Betis over other clubs as they made him feel valued, as he determines he is ready to replace Benat Etxebarria.

The playmaker was confirmed earlier this week as having signed on a free transfer from Espanyol, just days before Benat’s sale to Athletic Bilbao went through.

“I would like to thank everyone who has made it possible to be here. I have come to a club with a great tradition,” enthused Verdu to reporters.

“I have come to give everything, to pay back the confidence placed in me with results, I am very happy to be here.

“Hopefully things will go well, I hope that together we can achieve a great success.

“I had other offers, but I think that this is the best place for me and also for a player it is important that you feel important in the team, and Betis have shown me that.

“The pressure to replace Benat is there, but I am motivated to keep working. I want to help the team have a season that, if possible, is better than the last.”
