Tahiti captain Nicolas Vallar has reflected on what it would mean to score against Spain and how he would react.

The second round of games in Group B of the Confederations Cup are played on Thursday evening, with minnows Tahiti expected to face a tough time of it against world and double European champions Spain.

For the French Polynesians’ captain, doing better than losing by the 6-1 scoreline in their opening match against Nigeria would be a start.

“Hopefully we can concede fewer than six goals. Although I do not know how many we will score,” Vallar half-joked to reporters this week.

“If we were to score against Spain then it will be incredible.

“I hope to score a goal. If I succeed, I’ll the Coach to get me out of the field, because then I can return to Tahiti.

“It would be more incredible than the goal scored against Nigeria.”
