Perez: A new era for Real Madrid

Florentino Perez has been officially presented as Real Madrid’s President for the next four years, following an uncontested election.

No other candidates came forward in a 10-day nomination period at the end of May, meaning that by default the 66-year-old retained his position for another four-year term.

On from the club’s electoral board confirming his candidacy at the weekend, Perez has been presented to the media today at a ceremony marking the start of his new term of office, with will run until June 2017.

“As long as I am President, Real Madrid will belong to its partners, as it has been for 111 years,” Perez addressed reporters today.

“Upon arriving here the budget was €30m and now it is €300m. Today begins a new era for Real Madrid, Los Blancos are not conformists, even in defeat.

“Thank you to the board and the millions of fans – they suffer in defeats, they feel defeat, they deserve the full commitment of all of us at the club.

“The future has already begun and I want more, just like Santiago Bernabeu would. Real Madrid should be an exemplary club always looking to the highest perfection.”
