Mallorca fans: Ferrer go now!

Real Mallorca supporters have made it clear they hold Lorenzo Serra Ferrer responsible for the club’s relegation.

Ferrer [pictured, left], acting President and also the club’s major shareholder, was subjected to shouts of ‘Ferrer go now!’ after the game against Real Valladolid at the weekend, when fans also threw objects at the players, whom they described as ‘mercenaries’.

Yesterday the protests continued at the club’s training ground and graffiti appeared on the walls pleading for Ferrer’s departure, who was non-committal regarding his future intentions.

“The first thing I want to do is to apologise to the fans and thank them for their exemplary behaviour. They have been far and away above us,” Ferrer told gathered media.

“Any professional or director knows that we are in debt to our supporters. We need to work even harder to give them the joy of returning to La Primera as soon as possible.”

As for whether or not he would resign his post, Ferrer would offer no clue.

“It will be a matter of talking things over. Actions speak louder than words,” he said.
