Carvajal to rejoin Real Madrid

Bayer Leverkusen defender Daniel Carvajal will rejoin Real Madrid next season following Los Blancos’ decision to buy the player back.

Although it has not been made official Carvajal already knows he will make a return to the Santiago Bernabeu next term, according to Marca, having signed a five-year deal at Leverkusen in July 2012 with Real having a buy-back clause inserted.

The 21-year-old, who came through the club’s youth system, will be the first signing for Madrid’s new project with Jose Mourinho due to depart this weekend, and it was revealed the decision was taken some months ago when it was known the Portuguese would be leaving.

It is believed Mourinho was the chief obstacle to Carvajal’s return and he will now have to compete with the likes of Alvaro Arbeloa and Michael Essien for the problematic right-back spot.

The fee for the youngster will be around the €8m mark, with Leverkusen thought to be ready to raid Madrid’s second string again after showing interest in Jese and Denis Cherysev.
