Ramos: Congratulations Atleti

Sergio Ramos has congratulated Atletico Madrid, after his Real Madrid side lost to the Rojiblancos in the Copa del Rey final.

Cristiano Ronaldo's early header was cancelled out by Diego Costa, before Miranda scored in extra time to give Diego Simeone's men the win.

And the Blancos defender has claimed that their city rivals won fair and square.

“You have to congratulate our rivals, who won fairly,” he told the club's official website.

Perhaps after the first goal we relaxed and pulled back a bit. We made four or five clear chances but we didn't take advantage.

If we had done that we wouldn't be here regretting the loss or speaking about it. That is the truth and it must be taken on board. It was a pity we couldn't raise this trophy for the fans.

It is a pity that another trophy has escaped. It is a lot of effort throughout the season to finally walk away with empty hands.

But that is the truth, The League and the Champions escaped us, and we now have to have ambition and hope for next year, because we can't wish for anything else.

It was a pity we couldn't raise this trophy for the fans. In football all that matters are the trophies, and not the impression of giving everything in all competitions. I am leaving with the feeling that I have given everything, and my teammates the same.”
