Manchester United have been linked with a summer bid for Barcelona’s midfielder Cesc Fabregas.
The 26-year-old has been speculated as the subject of interest this coming transfer window from both former club Arsenal and Italian outfit Milan.
However, the Evening Standard believe that Premier League champions United are also interested in making a move.
The English are seen as keen to bolster their midfield options and also use the move for the Barcelona man as a statement of intent in the wake of Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement as manager.
Contact over a possible transfer has apparently already been made for Fabregas, who cost Barca an initial €29m in 2011. Speculation is that Barca would be after at least €23.5m this summer.
The player was reported last week as eager to stay and fight for improved first team opportunities at the Camp Nou next season.
