One of Atletico Madrid’s primary focuses this summer will reportedly be to convince Arda Turan to stay, amid rumours of interest from Chelsea.
This week, publication Fanatik de Turquia has run a report suggesting that Jose Mourinho is a fan of the Atleti No 10 and, in his reported plans to return to Chelsea in the summer, has requested that the London side make a move.
Specifically, the English are seen as willing to pay the 26-year-old’s €24m buyout clause, apparently with Arda’s acquisition a priority.
Jorge Mendes is seen as involved in the operation, due to his working relationship with Arda’s agent Ahmet Bulut.
Atleti are seen as unwilling to sell Arda, with Coach Diego Simeone reputedly seeing the Turkish international alongside Thibaut Courtois as pillars that the rest of the team can be built around.
