‘Not easy for Barca, but…’

Former Barcelona goalkeeping Coach Juan Carlos Unzue believes that his former side ‘deserve credit’ in considering their chances against Bayern Munich.

The Catalan outfit must overcome a 4-0 deficit in the Champions League semi-final second leg against the Germans this Wednesday evening.

“We have to believe in the comeback, this team deserves credit,” Unzue [pictured, right], who spent seven years at the Camp Nou, commented to La Xarxa Radio this week.

“It is not easy because Bayern are a great team, they have shown this all season. But if any team, any group, is able to overcome a 4-0 then it is Barca.

“The 4-0 over Bayern from 2009 should be used to think it is possible.

“The circumstances are different but it is true that there will be some point in the game that will cause room to think and see Bayern start to hesitate.

“Barca’s players have to attack and that’s the biggest strength that they have.

“Bayern Munich as an institution does not have good memories of the Camp Nou, as they lost the Champions League Final there [in 1999].

“Whilst Barca currently do not have a goal on the board, there will be opportunities.”

Unzue then turned his attention to former colleague Tito Vilanova.

“I see a Tito Vilanova with great strength and, if possible, this time with more. This certainly encourages the atmosphere.

“Hopefully his health will continue so that he can keep on enjoy and acting out on his ideas.”
