Celta Vigo’s slide down to last place in La Liga presents the club with the first such occasion in almost 27 years.
The Galicians’ defeat at Mallorca on Monday evening saw them leapfrogged by the island outfit and shuffled down to 20th place in La Liga.
It is reportedly the first occasion that the club sit bottom of the pile in Spain’s top flight since the last day of the 1985-86 season.
With seven games remaining, Celta are sat four points adrift of survival.
