‘Barca have 60 per cent chance’

Philippe Christanval believes that former side Barcelona have the greater chance of Champions League progression over Paris Saint-Germain.

Barca head into tonight’s quarter-final second leg with the advantage of away goals, thanks to last week’s 2-2 draw in Paris, but there are doubts about Lionel Messi’s availability.

“From the outset if Messi does not play then PSG will have more of a chance, but it will be difficult because Barca are the best team in the world,” commented Christanval to Mundo Deportivo.

“The match is 60 per cent in favour of Barca, but they do not have it easy due to the absences they have got.

“Messi is the best in the world, he has four Ballon d’Ors and for me is the best player of all time because what he does is incredible. It will take a long time to find another player like him.”

The Catalans are without Carles Puyol and Javier Mascherano in defence, meaning that one of Adriano and Alex Song will partner Gerard Pique at centre-back.

“The ideal partnership is Puyol and Pique, it will not be the same if Adriano or Alex Song play as this is not their position as players.”
