Javier Aguirre has once more pressed home that Espanyol are not yet certain of League survival, despite a healthy advantage.
Los Pericos moved up to 39 points on Sunday evening with a 2-0 win at Osasuna, to leave them 13 clear of the dropzone.
“It is not yet practical. Of course it is a good position to be 13 points clear of the underdog,” reflected Aguirre afterwards.
“With the final eight games to go, though, mathematically we are still not safe.
“Obviously this is an important step. Undeniably, but the League continues. We have four games at home and four away.
“The team were hardworking and tidy, in a tight match. We had a dose of fortune, because we could have gone into the break behind, but from there we have taken our chances.
“My contract? I will wait it out. Let us dedicate ourselves to our job.”
