Valverde ready for Valencia talks, but…

Ernesto Valverde had indicated that he was ready to start talks with Valencia over a new contract, but this was before Manuel Llorente’s resignation.

Speculation about Valverde’s future at the club beyond the expiry of his contract this summer has grown in recent months amid reports that negotiations were not yet started and the Coach indicating that he would not sign until the club’s boardroom situation was clearer.

However, despite Los Che’s situation away from the field threatening to become even more complicated in the coming weeks, the tactician said today that he is ready to start talks on a new deal.

At the same time, this was in a Press conference held before President Llorente confirmed his resignation from the club.

“We are at that time to find a meeting point for renewal. There is willingness from both parties,” reflected Valverde today, before confirming that the club made their first move on this a few months ago.

“And I told them to wait a while. A month ago I promised to talk with them and I expressed my willingness.

“It’s a matter of reaching an agreement and that’s it.”

Valverde was asked his view on the latest instalment of the saga between the club, the city council, majority shareholder Fundacio VCF and Bankia.

“You have to do a masters degree. Valencia is never boring. Every week, always, something happens.

“The circumstances are a bit beyond me, but they have little effect on us day to day.

“We have to keep aiming for fourth place in La Liga. Winning on Sunday is important for the club.

“We cannot trust Real Valladolid as they are an opponent in need of the points. They do not arrive into this game in the best of form.

“But we cannot rely on that remaining the case.”
