Fernando Vazquez has warned Deportivo’s relegation rivals that the Galicians are catching up from the foot of the table.
Depor followed up Week 28’s derby win over Celta to defeat Mallorca this weekend and close the gap to safety to four points.
“After winning here and against Celta, we are catching up in the fight for survival,” enthused Vazquez after Sunday’s 3-2 win at Iberostar Stadium.
“We were a little further behind in the table and we came here to win, we wanted to win, we did everything that we knew to do and in the end, with a good second half, we got it and this is good.
“Nerves in the game? If Mallorca were nervous, imagine how we are. Psychological factors are difficult to assess, but it is true that Mallorca are in a difficult situation, as are we.
“We have won in Palma, but we have not achieved anything. Nevertheless, we have overcome Mallorca’s goal difference advantage, which may be important at the end of the season.”
