Valencia have been dealt a blow with the news that Roberto Soldado is a major doubt to make the weekend’s trip to Atletico Madrid.
The striker sprained his ankle in Week 28 and had spent the first half of the international break undergoing extended physiotherapy on it, as he struggled with discomfort and swelling.
Whilst this delayed his return to full training, later reports were optimistic that he would be back among the main group by the end this week, in time to be passed fit for the trip to the Vicente Calderon.
However, tests carried out on his condition after training on Thursday have reportedly indicated that his recovery is still not as had been hoped for.
Nelson Valdez is in contention to take his starting spot in attack, with Soldado thought against the odds to be included in the matchday squad.
