Betis to fine Nosa €20,000

Real Betis have reportedly determined this week to fine Nosa Igiebor €20,000 as punishment for returning late from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Nigerian international only returned to Spain on March 8, almost a month after winning the African competition with his nation.

Claiming visa issues, the player saw a disciplinary case opened up by the club against him.

Reportedly consulting legal services, Betis were seen by Nosa’s representatives as unlikely to hit him with a fine of more than 30 per cent of his €25,000 monthly salary.

However, according to reports today, the club have determined a maximum possible fine of 75 per cent of his wages for the month’s absence, equating to €20,000, in light of a charge of serious misconduct.

Betis are understood to be making official any decision at the start of next week.

The 22-year-old, who has 10 appearances to his name in his first season in La Liga, has been training regularly with the club since his return.
