Real Madrid have reportedly made an offer to Athletic Bilbao’s promising goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to join them in the summer.
The 18-year-old Spain Under-20 international is highly rated by staff at San Mames, albeit if he has yet to feature in first-team affairs beyond training sessions.
Still on a youth contract, it is understood today that the tall and physically strong ‘keeper has had his head turned by interest from Madrid, and a proposal on the table.
Athletic have reportedly responded by trying to convince the youngster to sign an improved deal with them, but so far to no avail, with the only automatic renewal in place activated upon 10 appearances for the first team.
Arrizabalaga’s buyout clause varies depending upon games played at various levels and it is currently understood to stand at around €1m.
Madrid are seen as in the market this summer to boost their goalkeeping options long-term.
