Del Bosque: Spain squad stable

Vicente del Bosque has downplayed Carles Puyol’s absence and Xavi Hernandez’ struggles to be fit for Spain’s World Cup qualifiers next week.

Puyol is facing between one and two months on the sidelines after requiring surgery last week on a knee injury, whilst Xavi is a doubt for La Roja’s fixtures with Finland and France struggling with a returned thigh problem.

“We have a stable squad. We are going to be represented very well,” Del Bosque commented to Marca today, when asked of the situation.

“France? We should first be focused on Finland. I am concerned about that match in Gijon on March 22.

“We arrive in good condition and will try to get the three points.”
