8.8m tune in for Barca-Milan

Barcelona’s Champions League Last 16 second leg win over Milan attracted a television audience share of over 40 per cent in Spain.

Spanish television figures released today show that more than 8,884,000 viewers tuned in to watch La Blaugrana’s turnaround at the Camp Nou, representing a 41.7 per cent audience share.

A total of 16,679,000 people watched one stage or another of the game that saw two goals from Lionel Messi and strikes from David Villa and Jordi Alba send Barca through to the Champions League quarter-finals.

The peak audience during the fixture was reached at its conclusion, at just after 10.30pm local time, when an audience of 11,267,000 was recorded.
