‘I wanted the Atleti challenge’

Diego Simeone has described has described the difference between himself as a player and a Coach.

The former midfielder made over a century of appearance for Argentina, and won a host of trophies with Lazio, Inter and Atletico Madrid.

But the 42-year-old has admitted that he was more impulsive on the pitch, as well as commenting in his feelings being asked to come back to Atleti and manage the first team.

“I knew I was coming back,” he told El Pais Semenal. “So I dedicated myself entirely to preparing for the role.

“I knew it would be difficult, but I wanted the challenge.

“I am an anxious Coach and I'm very critical of myself. I try to listen, understand a problem and then solve it.

“Before, I was always more impulsive. I was a different person then.”
