‘Barca front row for Verratti’

Barcelona and Manchester United have been described as ‘in the front row’ for Paris Saint-Germain’s Italian midfielder Marco Verratti.

The deep-laying creative midfielder has impressed since moving to PSG from Pescara last summer, holding a regular place for the Parisians and breaking into the senior Italy squad.

For his agent, this has resulted in a lot of clubs enquiring as to his potential availability.

“Many Italian clubs have contacted me to know the status of Verratti, but they are not the only ones to have done so,” revealed Donato di Campli to Le 10 Sport this weekend.

“Big clubs in Spain and England are also interested in him. Barcelona and Manchester United are in the front row.

“He admires Sir Alex Ferguson very much. But I will travel to Paris soon to talk to [PSG sporting director] Leonardo over a new contract so Verratti can stay at PSG for a long time.”

Di Campli, however, also indicated that should demands in any new deal not be met then the youngster would not be averse to considering his options.
