Alba: Either could have won

Jordi Alba admitted that Valencia were good value for their point picked up against Barcelona on Sunday evening.

Los Che held the Catalans to a 1-1 result at the close of Week 22 and could have even stolen all three points at the end with Roberto Soldado’s close-range chance.

“This was clearly a difficult game and at the end either side could have won because both created chances,” reflected full-back Alba at the end.

“We would have liked to have won, but it is clear that a draw still allows us to keep fighting.

“We were a bit tired because the Cup match was very demanding. It’s always been difficult for Barca to come to Mestalla.

“Valencia are very strong since [Ernesto] Valverde arrived at the club and I’m sure they will up in the table at the end of the season.”

This was Alba’s first return to Mestalla since his summer transfer to the Camp Nou.

“I’m really happy for my time at Valencia, I can only say good things. I noticed that a lot of fans still care for me, not all of them, but all opinions are respectable.”

Barca will kick off their following League fixture on the Sunday lunchtime.

“I think it’s a good time to play, we’re used to training in the morning and we’ll also have our fans on our side, and a lot of kids will be able to come.”
