Cerezo in no rush to sign up Simeone

Atletico Madrid President Enrique Cerezo has revealed that the club will renew Diego Simeone's contract when they see fit.

The Argentine Coach has guided the Rojiblancos to second in the table and a Copa del Rey semi-final this season.

But the board chief has admitted they are in no rush to sign the 42-year-old up to a new deal, despite his current contract expiring in June 2014.

“When both the club and Diego see fit, we will sit down and discuss a renewal,” he told AS. “There are no problems between us – we are not delaying anything.”

The Colchoneros administrator also commented on the Copa last four clash with Sevilla, and Emre's departure to Fenerbache.

“The Sevilla match was tough. It was a very competitive game between two teams that want to get to the final.

“Thankfully we won the first leg [2-1 at Vicente Calderon], but I don't think there are favourites going into the second match.

“Emre wanted to leave,” he added. “He wanted to go back to Turkey and play more football – we did not have a problem with that.”
