Valverde wants winning run

Valencia Coach Ernesto Valverde sees tomorrow’s game against Granada as a chance for his side to build a winning run.

Los Che travel to Los Carmenes looking for their fourth win in five games since Valverde took charge but only the second in succession.

“I see the team is well,” the former Olympiakos trainer told assembled media. “The match against Granada is important because it is the return to competition. We are up against a team that have come out of the relegation zone. In midfield they are dangerous, particularly on the left.

“This is a vital game to maintain our positive climate and start the year well.”

Valverde then turned to the transfer market, and the continuing rumours surrounding Fernando Gago’s future.

“We have to get the most out of the squad that we have, I do not think it is right for the Coach to talk about reinforcements. Not that I’m cheerful about the inability to sign anyone, but it is what it is.

“I noticed from the day I arrived that every Press conference involved questions about Gago, and not on sporting matters. Speak about football matters and we can provide. He is our player.”
