Ronaldo rejects improved deal?

Reports in Spain are suggesting that Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo has refused to sign a new deal with the club.

According to AS Los Blancos have prepared an extension they hoped the player would sign this summer, which would run until 2018 and see his annual wage increased from €10m to €15m.

However the 27-year-old reportedly prefers to see out his current deal – which expires in 2015 – then leave, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and old employers Manchester United waiting to pounce.

Ronaldo described himself as ‘sad’ in Madrid after the victory over Granada in September, an emotion which apparently stemmed from the club’s lack of action in seeking to repair his image, a big factor – the player believes – in his continuing failure to wrest the Ballon d’Or award from Barcelona rival Lionel Messi.

AS suggest that the Portuguese winger feels not enough has been done by President Florentino Perez or anyone else at the club between now and then to remedy his discontent.
