Jimenez pleased with ‘daring’ Zaragoza

Real Zaraogoza Coach Manolo Jimenez saluted the ‘daring’ of his players following last night’s victory at Rayo Vallecano.

Goals from Franco Zuculini and Apono gave the Blanquillos a 2-0 win at the Campo de Vallecas and allowed them to jump up to 12th, leapfrogging Rayo in the process.

“It was not the most brilliant game of the season,” the former Sevilla trainer confessed. “But one of the most positive in terms of commitment and clear ideas. The team was daring and brave.”

Zaragoza had just 36 per cent possession yet came away with their third away win of the season.

“What happened is that we played with intensity,” Jimenez continued. “We were faithful to what was spoken, and if we all read the script we can produce a win like today.

“Helder Postiga did not score, but he had one of his best games. The team was very committed and for that I am very proud.”
