Copa del Rey round up

It was a mixed night for La Liga clubs in the Copa del Rey, as Real Sociedad were downed by Cordoba and three others went through.

Phillipe Montanier's men were beaten by the Segunda Division side 4-2 on aggregate. Antoine Griezmann had put the Erreala ahead early on, but Kiko was there in the second half to level the scores and the Califas were sure to go through with 15 minutes remaining when Sebastian Durbarbier poked home. Imanol Agirretxe pulled one back late on, but it was no enough for the hosts.

In Andalusia, Real Betis overcame a one goal deficit from the first leg to progress through 3-1 against Real Valladolid. Antonio Amaya, Ruben Castro and an own goal from Jesus Rueda saw the Rojiblancos into the next round.

Relegation-threatened Osasuna also turned their first leg around with a 2-0 home win over Sporting Gijon. Joseba Llorente and Ruben scored within seven second half minutes of each other to record a 2-1 aggregate victory.

The final early kick off the night saw Rayo Vallecano and Las Palmas play out a nervy 0-0, which saw Paco Jemez’s side after their 1-0 win in the reverse leg.

Malaga host Cacereno and Real Madrid welcome Alcoyano to Santiago Bernabeu in the late games.
