Olivero received more votes

Losing Espanyol presidential candidate Sergio Olivero received a higher number of votes than elected President Joan Collet in last week’s shareholder vote.

The club held presidential elections last week after the previous board resigned in response to ongoing protests at their management of the club.

The results of the vote that saw interim President Collet confirmed in the position have been revealed today and show that runner-up Olivero actually received a higher number of votes from shareholders.

However, his 2,660 supporters only equated at the AGM to a total of 37.56 per cent say, with the club’s major shareholders putting their support behind Collet, seeing his 1,385 votes translate into a 61.01 per cent support.

Olivero’s plan for the Catalans was to base management of the club on the business model adopted by Arsenal in recent seasons.
