Celta, Mallorca share the points

Celta Vigo and Mallorca played out a tough 1-1 draw on Sunday evening, a result that does neither side too many favours.

Both teams came into this fixture in bad form, with Celta winless from their last five in all competitions and Mallorca on a six-game losing streak in La Liga.

Tomer Hemed’s volleyed seventh strike of the season fully punished the hosts for failing to clear the ball from their area three times in a single move.

The strike came midway through a first half that otherwise saw Celta record by far the more attempts on goal.

However, it wasn’t until just before the hour mark through Park Chu-Young that the Galicians pulled level, with the South Korean benefiting from teammate Iago Aspas’ good work out wide in the build-up.

Mallorca pushed in the final half hour and looked the most likely to steal the three points, but they found goalkeeper Javi Varas in strong form between the Celta sticks.
