Atletico Madrid captain Gabi has commented on the continuing rumours over Radamel Falcao’s future at the club.
The striker is again linked with a departure during one of the next two transfer windows and asked on the dressing room’s reaction should the Colombian wish to leave, Gabi took a philosophical approach.
“We hear a lot about him and his future. He is a player that if he one day wants to leave then we will give thanks for how he has represented this club and for all that he has given it,” reflected the midfielder.
“If he wants to continue, which is what we all want, he knows that he will help fulfil all of our objectives, which is what is happening now.
“Atletico want to continue on this path of game by game. To be among the best, you have to keep winning. The team has tried this all season.
“It was no accident that we were doing well and the Valencia defeat was a one off, we played well but could not win. We are back on the right track now.
“The behaviour of this team remains the same. We know we face difficult games at home and away but now we want to be unbeatable.”
The team face Granada this coming weekend in a bid to reaffirm their return to winning ways.
“Today you are not given any points. They are a team with a good set of wingers, with a very good goalkeeper and a good forward-line.
“Certainly they are going to make it difficult for us. We have to respect them as we have been doing so with each of our opponents.”
