Neymar has commented on speculation linking him with a switch to Barcelona, suggesting that now is ‘not yet the right time’ to leave Santos.
The starlet has been linked with Barca in recent days off the back of a report last week that claimed the club list a €10m deposit paid last summer in their annual dossier.
“I’m happy here in Brazil, I’m happy at Santos,” Neymar then followed this up with yesterday in an interview with Reuters.
“I have the dream of playing in Europe, but it is not yet the right time.”
The forward also reflected on his growing status in his homeland and for his national team.
“The responsibility [to win] is divided. Everyone does their part on the field, one man cannot do it by himself. During the 2014 World Cup there will be 23 players determined and seeking out victory.
“I will be just one more Brazilian fighting for that title. I do not feel like a big star. Everyone has their role, if I pass the ball and nobody else moves then I will not be able to score. It is a team sport.
“I know that people are copying my hairstyle and almost everything I do, but I do not feel like a pop star. I’m happy for the affection because I too am a football fan and I know what it is like to have idols.”
