Barcelona defender Eric Abidal is back kicking a ball again as he embarks on his recovery from a liver transplant.
A report on the club’s official website says the Frenchman is currently undertaking a specific work schedule at Val d’Aran, an area of the Pyrenees, in the company of first team physiotherapist Emili Ricart.
In recent weeks the 33-year-old has been doing specific exercises under the supervision of club doctors but will now step up his routine by combining aerobics with mountain hikes and exercises on the pitch, with the ball also now coming into play.
“I’m tired, but happy,” said Abidal, who underwent the transplant just last April and hopes to be back wearing a Barcelona shirt soon.
