Alonso sure of Real approach

Real Madrid are confident they can counteract Barcelona's threat in Sunday's Clasico, according to midfielder Xabi Alonso.

Real got the better of Barca in the recent Super Cup and the last La Liga meeting back in April.

“We know the style and approach we have to implement in these kind of games,” Alonso told ESPN.

“The points taken from them in direct contests are very important. We saw what happened in the Super Cup. Sometimes you can do better or worse, but you have to be determined with your ideas.”

The former Liverpool star also complimented his boss Jose Mourinho.

“I have a very good relationship with the Coach, I feel like an important player in the team. I know he sees football and we share many things. I feel motivated to work with him and very comfortable.

“We are aware of the bad start we have had, and we are responsible for reversing the situation so that we are fighting for the titles we want at the end of the season.”

The Merengues have won just three of their La Liga fixtures this term.
