Real Madrid defender Pepe has put his name to a contract with sports manufacturer Nike.

The Portuguese international becomes Madrid’s seventh player to sign up with the United States-based company, joining Sergio Ramos, Cristiano Ronaldo, Rafael Varane, Sami Khedira, Luka Modric and Gonzalo Higuain.

Pepe premiered his new boots in the 5-1 win over Deportivo de La Coruna last Sunday but players tied to Nike in Los Blancos’ squad are in the minority.

Adidas, the company that sponsors the club’s kit, dominates the first team portfolio of players. Iker Casillas, Antonio Adan, Raul Albiol, Nacho, Ricardo Carvalho, Fabio Coentrao, Michael Essien, Kaka, Karim Benzema, Jose Callejon, Xabi Alonso, Angel Di Maria, Alvaro Arbeloa and Mesut Ozil are all with Adidas – 14 in total.

The only squad members to not be with the big two are third-choice goalkeeper Jesus Fernandez, who is with Puma, along with the unattached Marcelo and Alvaro Morata.
