Thiago Alcantara’s knee ligament damage has been confirmed, setting him back for another eight weeks on the sidelines.
The 21-year-old only returned to action against Getafe in Week 4 after spending all summer recovering from a thigh injury.
Off the bench for the final 15 minutes against Sevilla on Saturday night, the player has now sustained this injury to his right knee.
Tests today have confirmed that the player has ruptured the ligaments on the inner side of the joint, which will require up to eight weeks to recover from.
It rules the player out of potentially 11 matches across October and November in the League and Champions League.
