Barca staff plan Clasico strike

Staff at Barcelona have called a strike for October 7 and 23 to coincide with El Clasico and a Champions League match against Celtic.

AS reports that the works committee representing fixed-term employees at the club are staging the protest with the aim of getting a new collective agreement, which involves the improvement of current labour and social conditions and job protection.

The workers concerned are doormen who open up the Camp Nou gates, those who work in the ticket office and parking attendants.

If agreement is not reached beforehand then the Catalan club will be affected by two stoppages planned for the day of El Clasico, traditionally the biggest game on the calendar for La Blaugrana supporters

The second has been organised by Barcelona metro workers for the day of the Celtic game, with limited services available for fans making their way home after the game.
