Kolarov: Madrid on City’s mind

Manchester City defender Aleksandar Kolarov admits he is already thinking about facing Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Premier League champions travel to the Britannia Stadium on Saturday to meet Stoke City, but Kolarov has conceded the match against the Spanish giants on Tuesday is the only one on his mind.

“We will win in the Premier League,” the Serb told Marca. “But we cannot hide the fact that the game against Madrid focuses all our attention.

“Madrid are a great team, but I think that it will be a great night for Manchester City. We are very confident of our game, and I think things are going to go very well.”

The former Lazio man also remarked on Cristiano Ronaldo's recent confession that he feels unhappy at the Bernabeu.

“For me, it will just be a great test to measure myself against a player like him. Alongside Lionel Messi, he is the best footballer in the world. And as a former Manchester United player, he is certainly going to be eager to win.”

Kolarov then outlined what he thinks the Citizens will achieve in Europe this season.

“We have a great team and I think this may be our year. We have learned from last season's mistakes and I think we can play a big role in the competition this time around.”
