Zubizarreta: Result was good, but…

Andoni Zubizarreta is pleased to have beaten Real Madrid in just the second match of the season, even if the score-line could have been ‘a little better’.

Tito Vilanova’s first Clasico as Coach ended in a win for the Blaugrana, who now prepare for the second leg of the Supercopa de Espana in Madrid with a slender 3-2 advantage.

“Given that it was the second game of the season, the result has been good. Maybe it should have been a little better though,” reflected sporting director Zubizarreta post match.

“There was no time to get nervous after Real opened the scoring. It was great to equalise so soon against a team on that physical level.”

The former ‘keeper then offered a word of support for Victor Valdes, whose howler at the end gifted Real a second goal.

“Unfortunately, our work consists of these situations. Valdes has earned us many points and this error does not change anything.”
