Barca beat PSG on penalties

Barcelona continued their pre-season preparations with a penalty shoot-out win over Paris Saint-Germain at the Parc des Princes.

The Catalans added the Trofeo de Paris to their collection of honours after the sides had drawn 2-2 in normal time of what turned out to be an entertaining encounter.

Rafinha got Barca off to the perfect start when he sneaked in behind the hosts’ defence after just seven minutes and Lionel Messi doubled the advantage seven minutes after the break, firing home from the penalty spot after Mamadou Sakho was adjudged to have brought down Alexis Sanchez.

The lead lasted just nine minutes, former Barcelona man Zlatan Ibrahimovic converting the resultant penalty following a Martin Montoya foul on Ezequiel Lavezzi.

Substitute goalkeeper Jose Pinto had to pull off a couple of good saves as the Ligue 1 outfit began to pile on the pressure, but he could do nothing to prevent the equalising goal eight minutes from time when Zoumana Camara powered a header past him.

With the game going to penalties La Blaugrana managed to take the trophy home in emphatic fashion, Lionel Messi, Xavi Hernandez, Cesc Fabregas and Gerard Pique all on target with Sylvain Armand getting the French side’s consolation.
