Bielsa added to Russia job candidates

Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa has been added to the list of possible candidates to become Coach of the Russian national team.

The Russian Football Union (URF) has published a list on its official website that includes the names of seven Russian coaches and six foreigners, among them Spaniards Pep Guardiola and Rafa Benitez.

“The URF officially announces plans to hold consultations, in accordance with FIFA and UEFA rules, with the following specialists for the appointment of the next Russia national team Coach,” read the text preceding the list of names.

Besides Bielsa, Guardiola and Benitez, the other foreigners on the list are Italians Fabio Wapello and Marcello Lippi along with Englishman Harry Redknapp.

The post became available after the recent European Championships in Poland and Ukraine when Russia failed to overcome the group stage, resulting in the departure of Dutchman Dick Advocaat.
