Madrid: €35m plus Carvalho for Modric

Real Madrid are ready to offer €35m plus defender Ricardo Carvalho to land Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Luka Modric.

The Sun claims Croatian playmaker Modric has made it clear his heart is set on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu despite reports in Le Parisien on Tuesday that Paris Saint-Germain had joined the push for the 26-year-old with a bid of €40m, something Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is believed to look upon favourably as he is now resigned to losing Modric.

However, new Tottenham boss Andres Villas-Boas worked with central defender Carvalho when he was assistant to Jose Mourinho at Porto, and may be willing to take a chance on a player who is surplus to requirements at the Santiago Bernabeu and has previous experience of the Premier League having spent six years with London rivals Chelsea.
