Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes has a 22,500 capacity and is open on three sides with just the main stand covered. It was inaugurated in May 1995 with a match between Real Madrid and Bayer Leverkusen and the first home team game there was in August that year, when Granada beat Real Betis 4-1 in a friendly.

The Spanish national team has played in Granada seven times – three times in official matches – at both the new stadium and the old Los Carmenes, and remains undefeated, with their latest match a Euro 2012 qualifying win against the Czech Republic.
