Jose Luis Mendilibar is one of those Spanish Coaches better known for their nomadic careers than honours, but he appears well on his way to changing that stereotype.
The retired midfielder was first noticed on the managerial scene in the 2004-05 season, when he almost led Eibar to a first-ever La Liga promotion on a shoestring budget, but a short spell at Athletic Bilbao ended in dismissal. He then led Real Valladolid to the top flight in 2007 and kept them there for two years, yet he was relieved of his duties midway through his fourth term.
Two more sackings followed at Osasuna and Levante, but Mendilibar exceeded all expectations in 2015-16 as his return to Eibar resulted in Los Armeros enjoying their best campaign to date, finishing 14th in La Liga. A year later, he helped raise the bar again, this time by four places.
