Mina admits Barca ‘goosebumps’

Yerry Mina admits his move to Barcelona has given him 'goosebumps' after being officially unveiled on Saturday.

Mina completed his €11.8m transfer to Barca on Friday and was presented in front of over 8,000 fans, which included a segment of the defender praying and stepping on the Camp Nou pitch barefooted.

“For me, it's extraordinarily satisfying to be here,” began the Colombian.

“I've always worked hard and fought a lot to achieve this. I've always gone with my feet on the ground and eyes up to the sky.

“Barefoot on the pitch? There's a verse in the Bible that says, 'with the soles of your feet, you will touch the ground that you want to conquer.'

“I' come here to work hard, link up with the team and learn a lot from my teammates. I've always done that and I hope to succeed here.

“Barcelona are a great club and you can see it. I want to go step by step, get to know everything and learn from my teammates.

“I thank the fans for their reception, I'm super happy with it. I hope I can match it with my work.

“There was an agreement. I was calm, but when the opportunity arose, I didn't think twice.

“I'm at the best club in the world and I'll work hard to contribute and learn from them.

“Messi? He's the best player in the world and the first impression I got from him was his humility.

“I was sitting on the bench and up came Suarez. He approached me and I got goosebumps!

“I've always been a Barcelona fan, so it was unimaginable for me to come and play football with them.

“When I was told I was going to Barcelona, I jumped out of my bed with happiness. The hairs stood up on the back of my mum's, dad's and girlfriend's necks.

“I was given peace of mind because I talked to the directors and I knew what was going to happen.

“Celebrating goals? I'll try to contain my adrenaline! I'll fight for a place in the team. I'll happily play wherever the Coach decides to play me.

“I've always followed great midfielders and centre-backs like Pique, Masche, Umtiti, Vermaelen… I'm grateful to be here with them.

“You have to go step by step. The quality and class that my teammates have is extraordinary. I want to work, do things well and fit into the group.”
