Marcelo Bielsa claimed that his side deserved to beat Real Valladolid, whilst Miroslav Djukic praised his men for ‘an extraordinary 20 minutes’.
Goals from Alberto Bueno and Javi Guerra gave the Pucela the lead inside 15 minutes, but the Basque side came back with two goals of their own either side of half-time to claim a share of the points.
The Argentine Coach however thought he side should have added a third and claimed all three points.
“We deserved to win,” he told a Press conference. “Overturning a 2-0 deficit has merit, but after that we should have gone on to win the game.
“We dominated overall, defended well and attacked with purpose. I think we just lacked vigour going forward and calmness in front of goal.”
The 57-year-old also commented on Aritz Aduriz's elbow to the face of Marc Valiente, who needs an operation to his cheekbone.
“I am sure that there was no intention,” he added. “I hope that they understand that.
“Aduriz is mortified by what he's done, and we all hope Valiente gets better soon.”
The Serbian tactician meanwhile was pleased with side's effort, and also condemned Aduriz for what he thought was a clear red card.
“The second half was intense, but I have to congratulate my team because they played well,” he told a Press conference.
“We were not wholly successful in some areas, but our performance in the first 20 minutes was extraordinary.
“Athletic then dominated us in the second period, but we managed to compete well.
“I think Aduriz's foul on Marc Valiente was quite clearly a red card. It's broken his cheek bone, and he'll have to be operated on.
“I'm sure it's an accident, but it's a clear red card.”
