PRIMERA MATCH REPORT

Primera Week 20 - 20 Jan 2013 (14.00 UK)
Espanyol 3 - 2
Estadi Cornella El-Prat

Javier Aguirre was delighted after his side came from behind to beat Mallorca, whilst Joaquin Caparros felt ‘annoyed’.

Goals from Simao, Joan Verdu and Raul Baena were enough to give the Periquitos the three points at Estadi Cornelia-El Prat.

And the Mexican conceded his pleasure with the hard-fought win.

“We knew we had to become strong at home if we wanted to escape relegation,” he told a Press conference.

“It hasn't been easy tonight, but these points will prove very important come the end of the season.

“Although we lacked something at the start, I am really happy with the overall performance of my team.”

Caparros meanwhile thought his side should have at least drawn the match.

“We had the opportunity to draw the game,” he told a Press conference. “We went down to 10 men late on, and from then on they got more and more dangerous.

“I am annoyed with my players. We have gone many games without a win and tonight was a good opportunity for three points.

“We have to forget about this though, and focus on the upcoming matches.”
