Pepe Mel and Juan Ignacio Martinez praised Ruben Castro after the 31-year-old put in a scintillating display against Levante.
The 31-year-old scored his 11th of the season in a 2-0 win on Sunday afternoon, and the 49-year-old has hinted that a national team call-up may not be far off.
“Vicente Del Bosque is a great Coach, but Ruben Castro has shown what he can do,” the Verdiblancos boss told a Press conference.
“Scoring 11 goals already this season is a wonderful achievement.
“We have 34 points but we have to continue with the same humility and enthusiasm.
“We may not have the economic potential of other teams, but we do have other weapons, as we’ve shown here today.”
The Granotes Coach meanwhile thought his side were outplayed over 90 minutes.
“Betis were worthy winners,” he told a Press conference. “We have to congratulate them. Ruben Castro's talent defined the game, but it is also true that their whole side played a very smart match.
“We tried to close down their spaces, but in the second half we lacked intelligence.”
