Philippe Montanier was left ruing his Real Sociedad side’s inability yesterday to take advantage of Deportivo’s reduction to 10 men.
La Real played out a 1-1 draw at Anoeta, despite the visitors enduring half an hour of play with a man less, after Evaldo’s second yellow card.
“We cannot leave happy, because we have not won at home,” Montanier explained to reporters afterwards.
“When they finish with 10 men, it was a chance for the three points. But it really is a team, Deportivo, who have improved their performance.
“For us, it is a shame that we did not seize the opportunity. We lacked accuracy and also in completion of our moves.
“We had the ambition to reach 28 points at the midway mark, because that would have been one of the greatest figures from the past decade here.
“It could not be, but we will fight until the end of the season.”
